The original heart of Benalmadena remains as a typical Andaluz village in the foothills of the mountains which sweep down to the shore.
The narrow, flower-filled streets hold plenty of traces of the former civilisations which used to exist in the area. This picturesque village and its coastline are eminently suitable for tourism, with a population of over 60,000 people at the height of the season. Despite the influx of foreigners, the Pueblo (Village) has managed to maintain a certain degree of decorum in the midst of the massive amounts of building works and construction developments that now surround it, where not so long ago it was rough countryside.

The village is 280 meters above sea level and set into the hillside a few kilometers from the coast. It is a delight to wander through the narrow, whitewashed cobble streets and enjoy the display of typical hotly coloured Andalucian geraniums spilling out of endless plant pots on little windowsills. There are spectacular views of the Mediterranean coast from most of the streets. The Benalmadena Town Hall building is in this well-conserved and tranquil village.
Benalmadena Pueblo is a favourite place for many Spaniards and foreigners to shop for souvenirs or dine out.
